About Me
My Background
I've always been drawn to animals and the unique ways they process and interact with the world. Four years ago, that curiosity led me to Dr. Isabella Condotta's Lab for the Precision Management of Animals at the University of Illinois, where I gained experience developing deep learning models for production livestock to improve animal health and welfare.
Education & Academics
My technical foundations are derived from my strong computer science education and my experience with computer vision. I am skilled in C/C++, Java, and Python. I am also proficient in using Pytorch, Tensorflow, OpenCV, and YOLO for training custom computer vision models using Python script. I am also competent in frontend development using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Technical Interests
I think projects are the best way to learn and solidify skills. This enrichment of experience is what drives my latest computer vision project - RiverEye, which I hope will culminate in a windows application that can aid the work of researchers and DNR staff attempting to monitor local aquatic populations of midwest rivers.
Outside of Work
I enjoy camping, canoeing, skiing, and being outside just as much as I enjoy experimenting with projects or games on a computer. My long forays into the Minnesota Boundary Waters have given me a respect for nature and a drive to use my passion for technology to contribute to sustainability and conservation in a meaningful way. In my free time, I enjoy doing fun, unconventional projects, like putting Pokémon Emerald onto my Ti-nspire graphing calculator or turning an old laptop into a home server.
